VENGEANCE VS LOVING KINDNESS
1988-06-10
In a venomous attack on the Jewish community, the League of Rights' publication On Target has accused Neal Sher of the US Office of Special Investigations of "true Pharisaical spirit'' because he found his "Nazi-hunting" task "satisfying and rewarding".
This, On Target said, was a comment which Christians "find .. revolting". Continuing
its attack, which focused on Executive Council of Australian Jewry head Isi Leibler, a
"prominent member of the International Zionist Movement" , On Target went on to state
that "the idea of a Christian gentleman is alien to the Zionist Jew consumed as he is with Nazi witch-hunts, everlasting vengeance and retrospective justice". The attack ended with the statement that the claim "Christ is a Jew is historically false ... the continued repetition of this statement borders on the blasphemous". While most serious Christians would dismiss this as a sick joke, the hijacking of Christian concepts by the League of Rights is only the tip of an ominous iceberg in which the proposed Australian trials of Nazi criminals is calling forth some unpleasant comparisons between Christians and Jews.
RACHEL LE KOHN puts it in historical perspective.
